Feature Overview

Variant Optimizer is an AI-driven optimization capability for Dynamic Content campaigns in Synerise. It automatically identifies and promotes the best-performing content variant based on a user-defined goal (maximize or minimize a specific metric), while providing real-time performance insights including conversion probability, traffic allocation, and statistical confidence intervals.

The feature is available in the Dynamic Content module in Synerise and is currently accessible on request through Synerise Support.

What Is Variant Optimizer?

Variant Optimizer is an AI-powered experiment engine within Synerise Dynamic Content that autonomously allocates traffic to content variants based on performance against a defined optimization goal. Users set a goal (maximize or minimize a specific metric), and the optimizer automatically shifts traffic toward the best-performing variant over time. The system tracks and displays real-time metrics including initial traffic allocation, live display probability, average conversion probability, conversion time, and confidence intervals.

After the campaign runs, results can be checked and exported, and a variant.assign event is generated for custom analytics and dashboards.

Why Variant Optimizer Matters

Traditional A/B testing for Dynamic Content requires manual monitoring, manual traffic allocation decisions, and significant time to reach statistical significance. This delays optimization and leaves campaigns running with underperforming variants for longer than necessary.

Variant Optimizer addresses this by:

  • Autonomously shifting traffic to the best-performing variant based on the defined goal — no manual intervention needed
  • Supporting both maximize goals (e.g., maximize purchases, clicks, session duration) and minimize goals (e.g., minimize return rates, bounce rates, cart abandonment)
  • Providing real-time performance visibility with conversion probability, traffic allocation, and statistical confidence intervals
  • Generating variant.assign events for custom analytics and reporting

Key Capabilities

Goal-driven optimization

Users define the optimization goal with specific metrics. "Maximize" promotes the variant with the highest performance score (e.g., maximize purchases over $20, clicks, session duration). "Minimize" promotes the variant that reduces undesired outcomes (e.g., minimize return rates, bounce rates, cart abandonment).

Autonomous traffic allocation

The AI automatically allocates traffic to variants based on real-time performance. The best-performing variant receives increasing traffic over time, while underperforming variants are gradually deprioritized.

Real-time performance insights

The dashboard displays: initial traffic allocation per variant, live likelihood probability of each variant being displayed, average conversion probability per variant, average conversion time per variant, and conversion time confidence intervals for statistical accuracy.

Results export and event generation

After the campaign runs, results can be viewed and exported. The optimizer generates a variant.assign event that can be used to build custom analytics or dashboards.

How Variant Optimizer Works

  1. Create a Dynamic Content campaign with multiple variants in Synerise.
  2. Enable Variant Optimizer and define the optimization goal (maximize or minimize a specific metric).
  3. Launch the campaign. The AI begins allocating traffic and tracking performance.
  4. Monitor real-time performance: conversion probability, traffic allocation, and confidence intervals.
  5. The best-performing variant automatically receives increasing traffic.
  6. After the campaign ends, review and export results. Use variant.assign events for custom analytics.

Example Use Case

An e-commerce company tests three product page recommendations: similar products, cross-sell products, and trending products. Using Variant Optimizer with a "maximize purchases" goal, the AI automatically shifts traffic toward the variant that drives the most purchases. After a few days, the cross-sell variant shows the highest conversion probability and receives 70% of traffic. The team exports results and uses the variant.assign events to build a custom conversion dashboard.

FAQ

What is Variant Optimizer?

An AI-driven optimization engine for Dynamic Content campaigns in Synerise that autonomously allocates traffic to the best-performing variant based on a user-defined goal.

What goals can be defined?

Maximize (e.g., purchases, clicks, session duration) or Minimize (e.g., return rates, bounce rates, cart abandonment).

Is Variant Optimizer available to all users?

It is currently available on request. Contact Synerise Support to have it activated in your workspace.

What events does Variant Optimizer generate?

A variant.assign event is generated each time a variant is allocated to a user, which can be used for custom analytics and dashboards.
